 JTB was the first Travel Agency in Japan and was founded in 1912 when it traded as the Japan Tourist Bureau. JTB Corporation is a privately owned organisation and its main shareholders are the Japan Travel Bureau Foundation, East Japan Railway Co, JTB Contract Hotel Association, Central Japan Railway Co and West Japan Railway Co. Head office is in Tokyo and in Japan the company has 323 branches. Around the world we have offices in 70 locations. In 1962, the first Australian Office was established with two (2) employees based in Sydney. As a result of the significant and continuing increase in the number of visitors to Australia, the office was upgraded to a wholly owned subsidiary company in 1987. In 1986, JTB expanded to New Zealand and as part of its advance into the South Pacific JTB expanded into Fiji in 1992. Australia, New Zealand and Fiji make up JTB Oceania and JTB Headquarters for the region is based in Sydney. Through its group companies, JTB Australia provides a range of travel services.
